Romney views damage from Hurricane Isaac

Fresh from the Republican convention, presidential nominee Mitt Romney prepares to leave Florida.

Before heading to Louisiana to view damage caused by Hurricane Isaac, Romney and running mate Paul Ryan took the opportunity to rally supporters.

During a farewell speech Romney urged voters to help them rebuild the U.S. economy.

He also appealed once again to those disillusioned by President Barack Obama.

SOUNDBITE: REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, MITT ROMNEY, SAYING (English):

"Almost every measure he described he has failed to perform upon. And the reason for that is not that he wasn't trying in my view, it's that he was pulling in the wrong direction. He actually didn't know what it means to make the economy work. Paul Ryan and I understand how the economy works, we understand how Washington works, we will reach across the aisle and find good people who like us, wants to make sure this company deals with its challenges, we'll get America on track again."

Romney touched down in Louisiana later in the day, to view damage caused by the hurricane.

The storm caused severe flooding in areas, and left some 500,000 homes without electricity.

Hurricane Isaac had forced the republican convention to be shortened as officials prepared for the storm to hit.

Romney will run against Obama in the election on November 6.
