Marina is 18. Her parents died early, so she grew up with her mother’s family in Catalonia. Fast forward to the present: she needs documents for a scholarship application, so she travels to Vigo on Spain’s Atlantic coast to meet the father’s side of the family she never knew.

It starts like an admin errand, then slowly turns into something messier. New uncles. Fresh aunts. Cousins who all have a version of events. And those versions? They don’t quite line up with what Marina thought she knew. The real problem is her mother’s diary, which keeps showing up at the exact moment Marina wants an easy answer.

Romería has that uneasy feeling of a secret being remembered wrong on purpose. 7.0 on IMDb for a reason. It’s not flashy. It just keeps tightening the knot.

Bis Vigo plötzlich nicht mehr nach Formularen riecht, sondern nach Familie. Ihr Vater. Die Verwandtschaft. Und diese Sorte „Tante sagt, Onkel sagt“, die sich anhört wie ein Chor aus Halbwahrheiten.

Während Marina durch Katalonien und an die Atlantikküste stolpert, versucht sie, die eigenen Erinnerungen zu sortieren. Das Tagebuch ihrer Mutter liegt dabei wie ein Messer in der Schublade. Man blättert. Man merkt, dass manche Geschichten nie so passiert sind, wie man es glauben wollte. Romería ist ein herangetastetes Familienstück mit ordentlich Knistern. Nicht laut. Eher bohrend.
