i never thought any of this would change
at some points i thought i'd overdose

i haven't thought about them till today
i heard you were in alderney

what has changed between back then and now?
i'm not sure if i did any wrong
i hate my brain, surely it will allow
that i remember you because of this song

those times seem a thousand years away
i don't know what i would say
if i ever met you down in alderney

those years were too good to be true
i swore that i would never forget them
but the truth is i don't remember you
and i know it's easy to condemn

those times seem a million years away
i will never try to get in your way
i won't search you there in alderney
