What fever ever lasted so,
That burns so fiercely day and night,
Month on month, year on year,
Fed not by any flame nor bright
but hiding in the darkest cell,
Forever clawing at my soul,
No distance lessening its hold
Just waiting for the bell to toll?
I never sought this life on pause,
A statue fixed upon a dove,
Though cure or counsel wish not I,
For this damned unrequited love.
