robert dickerson - Interlude
7 Views • Jun 16, 2014
Description
huffing and puffing, I have come
and stretched myself along this pier
to slumber in the morning sun.
The waters purl and slap and hiss
beneath my head, while in the depths
little fish hang motionless.
A sunbeam penetrates my breast.
Where did I see it all before
but in a dream? the little town,
the Virgin-guarded harbor where
the painted boats bob up and down.
We long for it, this motionless
deep slumber in the morning sun-
know it when you find it, Peace,
it was for this that you had come.
