Robbie Squires - A Foreign Land
4 Views • Jun 16, 2014
Description
Patiently awaiting your arrival
He seeks to take you out in one fell swoop
Taking your life for his own will
The raindrops dance as they splatter on his helmet
He knows not of your family or your life
Only to do what his government has said
Kill the enemy, to not stop till their all dead
But you are just a man
Not the enemy to him
He cannot kill you like the general said
Sparing you and your entire battalion
You approach with anxious fear
Knowing that loaded turrets are near
They have taught one thing in the service
Don’t be afraid and to never be nervous
So you and your men march to their bunker
In silent despair and ready to get out of here
You see the opposing gunner and open fire
Unfortunately you never knew his one desire
Doesn’t wanna kill you just leave you alone
But now you’ve killed him and its done
Later that month the war is over
You can go home to a wife in Dover
But he lay rotting on a foreign ground
His country left him and his body never was found
