Apathy grows like cancer
strangers' words become a firing squad
we are hated and feared
because of our illness.
We are demons to those around us
who cannot understand our misery.
We have voices and feelings
left unheard,
for we are the walking dead
on an endless journey
searching for the love
we once knew.
