Returning to battle in Libya
Description
Returning to battle in Bani Walid.
Libyan forces moved tanks towards the Bani Walid frontline Wednesday in an attempt to capture one of the last remaining enclaves of armed support for Muammar Gaddafi.
Almost a month after armed rebels, backed by a NATO bombing campaign, seized control of Tripoli, Libya's new leaders are still trying to assert their authority over the desert town 90 miles southeast of the capital.
A similar scene in Sirte, the hometown of the former Libyan leader.
The latest attempt comes a day after the fighters suffered a setback. Five anti-Gaddafi fighters were killed Tuesday after they came under artillery fire.
SOUNDBITE: Field leader Sami al Jauhari, saying: (Arabic):
"When we reach the center of the town, we will meet resistance. They have a large number of snipers and heavy weapons and grad rockets. They try to use the heaviest type of weapons."
NTC forces have faced stiffer resistance than expected in their efforts to take Bani Walid and Sirte and have had several major assaults repulsed by heavy fire from pro-Gaddafi forces.
