Retired cop proud to be called Merdeka

Retired cop Mat Merdeka Embun, 65, is proud to carry a name that not only signifies his birth but also coincides a historic event when the country’s first prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman famously called out "Merdeka" in 1957.

Mat Merdeka told reporters that at the Merdeka Children Programme on Wednesday (Aug 31), in conjunction with the National Day 2022 celebration through the National Archives of Malaysia (ANM) under the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.
