Why are you coloured so blue,
O sky! is this your natural hue?
Not a fiery red, nor a fertile green,
nor a passionate purple nor a pretty pink?
over this world entire, a natural cover,
How many worlds more do you shelter?

How far above us do you hover?
Has anyone succeded in coming near?
The birds yonder flying so high-
seem caressing you in their flight!
what secrets do you them reveal?
What blueness do you them impart?

Soft to touch like a baby's skin
smooth, unwrinkled silky and clean.
You are so delicate and frail
but can still withstand any gail!
How many mysteries do you conceal?

The fluffy clouds flitting casually,
seem conversing with you jovially,
The Sun, the moon and the stars,
share with you a bond of joy!
Can we ever aspire to be your pal?

You are the gateway to the Heavans,
Where the Gods reside with their brethren;
But you are a screen fully opaque-
thick and dense, difficult to penetrate.
When will this heavy curtain rise?
When will we glimpse the promised land?
