Requisition or Not, Acquisition Surely Permitted

Land acquisition bill, which was championed by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and stiffly resisted by Agriculture Minister and NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar was supposed to make it harder for the govt and business interests to seize peoples land. But the Bill gives the govt itself almost total exemption from its own Bill land acquired for so-called "public purposes" such as ports, canals, highways, is exempted from the Bill's provisions.
