The devil within tries to be still
So that we feel its gone
And tender words are spilled
But the devil exists, albeit withdrawn

Lurking underneath, longing to be freed
When we loosen the leash and lower our defence
Voila! It emerges out in full greed
Unleashing a dark side, we watch in an awed silence

However virtuous we may try to sound
And say our daily prayers, hound the temples, churches n mosques
Our dear amused devil will still be around
Laughing at our earnest efforts to hide the seed under the husk

All we can do is to be aware of it
Watch it, observe and make a deal with him
That we will accept it bit by bit
Shake hands and let him stay at the brim
