Remixing for Ebola relief
Description
Thrity years after the orignal Band Aid recording, boy band One Direction and U2 lead singer Bono joined some of the biggest names in British pop and rock music to record a new charity song to raise money to combat Ebola in West Africa.
"Do They Know It's Christmas?" was first recorded after musician and philanthropist Bob Geldof inspired a host of stars to come together under the Band Aid name to help those affected by famine in Ethiopia.
Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding and Sam Smith all joined Geldof at a West London recording studio to contribute to the new song.
Back in 1984 the song raised $11 million (USD) (8 million pounds) and featured George Michael, Sting and David Bowie.
The latest version will be available for $1.55 (99 pence) as a download on November 17.
Ebola has killed more than 5,000 people since it broke out in West Africa according to the World Health Organization, mostly in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea.
