Description

Supertyphoon “Yolanda” (international code name: Haiyan)
made its first
landfall in Guiuan, Eastern Samar on
November 8, 2013,
packing maximum sustained winds of
314 kilometers per
hour, with gusts up to 379 kph. It
battered the Visayas region, particularly the provinces
of Eastern Samar, Western Samar, Leyte, Biliran, Cebu,
Bohol, Capiz, Iloilo, and Antique, and also Palawan.
One of the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded,
Yolanda killed about 6,300 people, injured 28,689 and
left 1,061 missing. The cost of Yolanda's damage has
