Description

Hemant Kumar singer, composer and producer celebrates his birthday today. Born in Varanasi and educated in Calcutta Hemant Kumar quit his engineering studies at Jadavpur University to pursue music as a career. He sang his first song on the AIR in 1933 at the age of 13. Six years later he cut his first disc for HMV. But it was only in 1948, when lyricist and music composer - Salil Chowdhury teamed up with him, that Hemant Kumar got his first smash hit and due recognition.
