Remains confirmed as missing student

Demonstrators marched through the streets of Mexico City by the thousands Saturday as news broke that tests had confirmed the identity of the remains of one of the 43 missing trainee teachers.

Protests have been ongoing over the abduction of the students 10 weeks ago in southern Mexico.

Government officials says remains found during their investigation belong to the students. They say the students were kidnapped by corrupt police and handed over to drug gangs who massacred them.

The public have criticised the handling of the case and say more needs to be done to end collusion between officials and criminals.

Sources close to the case say Argentine forensic experts had informed the family of Alexander Mora that their son had been positively id'd.

During a rally, Mora's father wept as supporters shouted 'you are not alone'.

A spokesperson for the families, who is also missing a son, spoke to the crowd.
