As Matthias confronts the monstrous slave master, a harrowing battle ensues, leading to a perilous fall into the depths of the abyss. Gripping onto a fraying rope, Matthias descends into the unknown, only to encounter the malevolent Malkariss himself.
In the Kingdom of Malkariss, Matthias confronts the dreaded Wearet, only to find himself plunged into further danger. As allies rally to his aid, betrayal lurks in the shadows, threatening to snuff out hope. Meanwhile, in Redwall, Stryk's slow recovery binds him closer to Cornflower, even as the fortress faces a cunning enemy in Ironbeak.
As Ironbeak's plans unfold, Matthias squares off against Malkariss, a foe both sinister and surprisingly frail. Yet, even in the face of overwhelming odds, Matthias's courage inspires a rebellion among Malkariss's own slaves. However, amidst the chaos, an unseen danger looms as Slagar The Fox takes deadly aim at Matthias.
