Redruth Gaol

Redruth Gaol built in 1856, and the first Gaol built outside metropolitan Adelaide near the town of Burra. It would provide accommodation for a gaolkeeper, turnerkey and 30 male and female prisoners. It would later serve a girl’s reformatory until 1922 and residence until 1956. In 1979 the motion picture Breaker Morant was filmed there.
