Red carpet rolled out for Emmys
Description
Preparations for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards are underway in Los Angeles, where master of ceremony Jane Lynch participated in a red carpet rollout to herald the arrival of television's biggest night.
Lynch, a multi-talented actress featured on the hit show "Glee," and an Emmy winner herself, is hosting the telecast for the first time. She is maintaining a cool and collected exterior ahead of Sunday's event (September 18).
SOUNDBITE: Jane Lynch saying (English):
"How does one describe one's own uniqueness without sounding like a braggart. You know, my brand is that I'm sardonic and it comes from a good place. I know that I set the tone, and I watched Jimmy Fallon do it last year and I thought he did such a wonderful job, so, you know, because we're writing in there and I'm making sure that I'm keeping an eye on the tone and just helping, keeping it from being snarky. It's not a snarky night, I want to keep it positive, because it's about celebrating ourselves, it's about celebrating television, which is much more than just the actors, believe it or not."
Last year's ceremony was hosted by comedian Jimmy Fallon, giving the show its largest TV audience since 2006.
Mark Burnett, the executive producer of the Emmy Awards show, and Lynch literally helped roll out the red carpet at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, where workers are busy preparing for the A-list guests and the Governor's ball that will follow.
The awards will be handed out on September 18 in a ceremony broadcast on Fox.
