Description

As dutiful daughters of the spring
They bowed in tandem, downwind
In a fierce late winter storm.

Pointing their faces away
From the wind and looking
Toward the ground, their
Grace and elegance belied
The howling wind, and
Spoke of their duty to the season.

Their bright yellow shouted to
The dark clouds and cold wind,
Speaking of things to come,
Standing out in an otherwise bleak
Winter tapestry.

Tomorrow or soon thereafter,
They'll be majestic sisters, facing
The light and holding in their
Faces the hope of renewal
And new beginnings.

This is the season borne
Of the Maidens Daffodil.
