Rainstorm threatens to dampen Oscars glitz
An emergency tent has been put up to try and stop the red carpet getting soggy.
The Oscars are usually blessed with sunshine and blue skies. But this time, the forecast is not looking so good.
“I have been here for about twenty years and this has been the worst, and it is not over yet because they say it is going to rain all the way till Sunday at 6 p.m,” said George Edwards, a television engineer.
Belgium’s Felix van Groeningen, director of “The Broken Circle Breakdown,” is among those trying to look on the bright side.
“It’s a little wet. And it’s a little chaotic because of that, I think. So they have some work for Sunday. That’s the crazy thing. There’s something very not glamorous about it,” he said.
The plastic tent stretches from the Hollywood and Highland boulevards to the front of the Dolby Theatre venue.
Organisers are now hoping the clouds will clear and they’ll be able to remove it – leaving the event less like a scene out of the movie “Singin’ in the Rain.”
