Description

Residents from at least four building complexes in the Sagaing Division were too afraid to sleep in their homes on Sunday (November 11) after an earthquake rocked central Myanmar.

They moved to a nearby primary school which served as a temporary camp site.

The earthquake struck near the country's second-biggest city of Mandalay, killing at least six people.

It is feared the total number of dead is likely to rise because part of an unfinished bridge fell into the Irrawaddy River and several workers were missing.

The quake, estimated a 6.8 by the local meteorological service, hit around 60 kilometres (37 miles) north-west of Mandalay near the town of Shwebo at 7:41 a.m. (0111 GMT), and was shallow at around 10 kilometres (6 miles) deep.
