Pundits Say Pope Won’t Visit Peru

Many Latin American countries are awaiting the visit of Pope Francis this July, but he will not be visiting Peru. For decades the Cardinal of Lima, Juan Luis Cipriani, a member of the far-right-wing Opus Dei, has used his position in the Church to oppose movements for social change, while the Archdiocese holds stock in one of the most controversial mining companies.
