Protests in Mexico turn violent

This weekend protests continued over the 43 missing Ayotzinapa teaching students after the country's attorney general announced that according to evidence gathered, and confessions made by criminal-gang suspects detained, it is probable that the 43 students were victims of a mass murder. The group 43 by 43 began its march to the country's main square, the Zocalo, starting with 43 protesters and arriving with at least 1,500. Other social and student organizations joined them. Eventually the peaceful demonstration turned violent as hooded protesters set fire to the entrance of the National Palace. Police were dispersed and, according to witnesses, took into custody people who looked like university students. Protests were also held in other parts of the country and the world.
