Prosecution rests in Murray case, U2 honored

Prosecutors rested their case against Michael Jackson's doctor on Monday (October 24) after nearly four weeks of testimony and evidence against the man accused of involuntary manslaughter in the pop star's 2009 death. Conrad Murray's attorneys called their first witness to the stand on Monday and have told the judge they will likely finish presenting their case on Thursday (October 27). Murray, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, faces a maximum of four years in prison if convicted.
Rock icons U2 have been awarded Q Magazine's Greatest Act of the Last 25 Years award. The annual music awards by Britain's best-selling music monthly took place Monday in London and the Irish quartet was among the music notables at the ceremony. Coldplay was voted Best Act in the World Today and Noel Gallagher, one-half of the warring brothers who led the rock band Oasis to chart glory, was named a Q icon.
Rocker Alice Cooper visited The Houses of Parliament at Westminster, London on Monday (October 24) as part of a publicity event to promote this year's 'Rock the House' campaign. The American musician plans to become a patron of the campaign, which highlights music awareness for Members of Parliament, intellectual property rights and the importance of live music in the UK. Cooper is also set to perform a series of Halloween shows in the city.
Loretta Lynn is out of the hospital and resting at her home in Tennessee. A statement from her reps says the country music icon has been treated for bacterial pneumonia. The 76-year-old was forced to cancel a show in Kentucky on Saturday because of the illness. Lynn says she's feeling better and will return to the road November 3 in Knoxville, Tennessee
