Description

Anti-drug agents in Colombia have seized hundreds of properties valued at over $25 million that are thought to belong to cocaine kingpin Daniel "El Loco" Barrera, Colombian authorities reported.

A series of raids were carried out on various sites in coordination with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Among the assets seized were luxury residences reportedly in the name of family members of "El Loco's" but linked to the drugs baron.

Dozens of commercial establishments, various cattle farms and an expansive 2,600-hectare property were confiscated by authorities.

Captured in Venezuela last year, Barrera was one of Colombia's most-wanted drug traffickers. Colombian authorities accuse the drug kingpin of overseeing a smuggling ring capable of sending ten tonnes of cocaine a month to Mexico's Sinaloa cartel, the most powerful organised crime gang in the Americas.
