Private Payroll Rose In December
Description
Private payrolls rose by 235,000 in December, higher than the Dow Jones estimate of 153,000, according to payroll company ADP. Service providers added the most jobs at 213,000, followed by leisure and hospitality, which added 123,000 jobs. Professional and business services grew by 52,000, education and health services by 42,000, and goods-producing by 22,000. ADP reported a 7.3 percent annual pay increase across all categories, led by a 10.1 percent increase in the leisure and hospitality industry.
