Princess Mononoke (1997)

When Harvey Weinstein tried to butcher Princess Mononoke for a U.S. release, Hayao Miyazaki sent him a katana with those two words, “No cuts.” The message was clear this story wasn’t meant to be trimmed or tamed.

This scene? One of the film’s emotional breaking points. And Miyazaki didn’t want a single frame softened for the sake of marketability.
