Pressure rises on Syria's Assad
Description
PLEASE NOTE THIS EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL
Since August there have been increasing reports of attacks on Syrian government forces by armed civilians and army defectors whose numbers are said to be growing.
Video posted on a social media site shows a group of men believed to be from the Syria Free Army.
They said they attacked security forces in the town of Ankhel, where 14 government soldiers are rumoured to have been killed.
Reuters cannot independently verify the content of this footage.
In Aleppo, demonstrators gathered, clearly determined to continue their fight.
"We will not kneel", the placard reads.
The video was posted on the day the Arab League gave Damascus three days to implement a peace plan to end the bloodshed and allow in teams of observers.
Though Qatari's foreign affairs minister was reluctant to say it was their 'last chance'.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) QATARI FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER, HAMAD BIN JASSIM, SAYING:
"I don't want to talk about the last chance because I do not want this to sound like a warning. We are facing a problem and we reached the end of the road or we are near the end of the road. We pray to God and we hope that our brothers in Syria will help us bring an end to this tragedy."
The Arab League is also considering economic sanctions against Syria whose membership has been suspended.
Syria said it is committed to the Arab peace plan, still blaming the unrest on "armed terrorist gangs".
The United Nations said at least 3,500 civilians have been killed.
