I looked at myself, I looked at my pain
Thought if my life has gone all in vain
And while I was thinking and wondering why
With tears I looked at the deep blue sky

The sky gives me sunshine, the sky gives me rain
But sometimes it storms and meets the death lane
And again I was thinking and wondering why
Wiping my tears I looked at the deep blue sky

In the sky flies an eagle, in the sky flies a crane
And also a sparrow, but it shows no refrain
Now I was thinking if I should wonder why
Smilingly I looked at the deep blue sky

Sometimes it’s blue, sometimes it’s gray
Sometimes it‘s night, sometimes it’s day
Now I understood I should not wonder why
I laughed and looked at the deep blue sky

The sky shines on the babies, but also on a grave
And only for success I did always crave
Again I looked at myself; again I looked at my pain
And said to myself “I shall give it a try again”
