Prayagraj flood

A couple was seen carrying their child over their heads as the water breached waist-level. Residents of Prayagraj and other eastern cities in Uttar Pradesh including Varanasi, Chanduali, Jaunpur, Ghaizpur, Ayodhya, among others, bore the brunt of the heavy rainfall as streets were flooded in the cities.

Both the Ganga and Yamuna rivers surpassed danger levels, flooding over 62 localities across Prayagraj district, including Sadar, Phulpur, Karchana, Meja, Soraon, and Handia.

Floodwaters entered more than 10,000 homes, resulting in over 6,000 people being relocated to relief camps as per media reports.

The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning for Prayagraj and other eastern UP districts in the coming days.
