i am a bubble
swirling in liquid colour
life the breeze
that bumps me around


i have burst countless times
at every bad joke
at every rough word
at every defeat


yet i have become alive again
fully inflated soul
gliding back into the slipstream
deftly bobbing along


snipers are everywhere
luring me into their sights
they live in the shadows of friendship
some inside submarines of time


at work, deadlines threaten
shaking menacing spears
in the neighbourhood,
bad vibes caress velvet daggers


i go out in multiple explosions
colourful poofs
but ever so quickly my ego rebuilds me
even as i reach for the doorbell


but there's more wickedness in the air
on television
on print
on the lips and nibs of gleeful experts


i am buffeted by sub prime atlantic winds
for no fault of mine
my stock is a quarter of its worth
in two months


i could have kept the money in the bank
but heck i didn't
someone plotted somewhere
and fired a zillion arrows into my rupees


they lie deflated
fortune unharvested
nightmares puncture my sleep
i toss among their jagged ruins


then morning says hello
wife kisses hello
son hugs hello
dog licks hello


i am bubble refreshed
ready to rise with the thermals
ready to bounce back
ready to bounce right back


and then i smile
i maybe a bubble
but i am a bubble rubberized
i am a bubbler.
