Description

Food allergies are very common and affect around 8% of children in the US. According to UPI, a recent study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology suggests that trends in the type of food allergy may be influenced by race. The study of kids ages 1-18 found that black and hispanic children have higher rates of corn, shellfish and fish allergies. Minority children were also found to have higher rates of asthma, eczema and allergies to wheat and soy than white children. Peanut allergies were the most common food allergy across all racial groups.
