PolyMaya comprises Deb and Steve, a semi retired couple from the paradise that is Julatten with a shared passion for developing and performing their own unique style of music and performance art

PolyMaya composer and guitarist Steve is bi polar (plus ADD and OCD) and because of this his music as well as his thoughts and emotions are in a constant state of flux. This has been difficult to capture and accommodate within a single band and so PolyMaya was developed as a vehicle through which Steve’s yin aspect could be better developed and expressed.

Deb is in her own right a talented artist and writer and brings these talents (as well as her vocals and percussion and beauty) to PolyMaya, guiding and enhancing its yin focus and keeping Steve on an even keel

PolyMaya music is composed and orchestrated using a sequencer/mixer (Yamaha RM1X). Using the RM1X allows both PolyMaya and PolyMantra (Steve's other band) to share a common repertoire of Steve’s original material, but each band performs those pieces in their own unique style. The orchestration and voicing and lyrics and beats of the pieces are developed to be either yin or yang energy driven (Ray Cave drives PolyMantra with his ‘high risk’ fusion drumming while Deb delivers a more chilled style of percussion for PolyMaya)

The RM1X also allows PolyMaya to bring a sound quality and range of instrument voices and sounds to their live performance that would not otherwise be possible/practical

We are also intending to chase a few Australian music festivals here and there at a later date - nothing too stressful, but we just love the vibe and fellowship of the festivals we have been to either as performers or simply as part of the sweaty throng & it will give us a chance to hit the road in our trusty old campervan.
