Description
Angela Merkel is widely predicted to be re-elected chancellor in what would give her a historic 4th term. But the fracturing of the political landscape has seen her Conservative CDU party struggling to keep the momentum of previous campaigns.
Martin Schulz’s Social Democrats are predicted to suffer their worst-ever result. However, Schulz remained confident that everyone would be surprised by the outcome of the election.
The Liberals, under Christian Lindner on the other hand, are expected to make a comeback after a crushing defeat in the last election.
The AfD Alternative for Germany is also expected to do well, which could result in it becoming the first far-right party to enter the German Parliament since World War II.
