Poll shows majority support Palestinian state

Description
A majority who participated in a global poll conducted by the BBC support the United Nations recognition of a Palestinian state. Forty nine percent said they were in favor of the Palestinian statehood bid and 21 percent said they opposed it and 30 percent abstained. Some 20,446 people participated in the poll across 19 countries. Widespread support for the Palestinians came from Egypt where 90 percent favored the statehood bid with only 9 percent having reservations. In Turkey 60 percent favored the Palestinian move and 19 percent opposed it, in Pakistan 52 percent said they favored the statehood bid and 12 percent said they opposed it. In the United States 45 percent said they favored the bid and 36 percent were against it.
