Polio almost eradicated in India

A decade ago two-thirds of the world's polio cases were found in India, but in the last year the country saw only one single reported case of the virus.

In the Uttar Pradesh district of Moradab, once home to the highest number of polio cases in India, vaccination teams travel door to door to get to every child before the disease does. This policy has led to the treatment of up to one million children per month.

There have been no new cases in the region since 2009 and only one officially reported case across India in 2011.
