Police protest low wages in Bolivia
Description
Dynamite is detonated at a police protest in Bolivia.
It is the fourth day of a mutiny over wages for lower-ranking police officers.
The striking police rallied at Bolivia's National Police Headquarters, supported by their wives.
The protest shows no sign of dying down.
Local media reported that Bolivian President Evo Morales reached a pay agreement on Sunday with leaders of the police protest, but the police rejected the deal, demanding higher wages.
On Monday, Vice President Alvaro Garcia called the unrest a "conspiratorial plot."
But he vowed to avoid a repeat of a police protest in 2003 that was stamped out by the military, causing dozens of deaths.
