Description

Dozens of protesters were detained Tuesday after peaceful anti-Putin protests were broken up in Moscow.

Led away with their arms behind their backs, the demonstrators were shuttled onto police buses for processing.

More than 700 protesters have been detained by police over the past two days.

Public dissent has been rampant over the swearing in of Vladimir Putin as President, and of Dimitry Medvedev as prime minister.

Putin served 2 terms as president from 2000-2008, and was then appointed prime minister when Medvedev was elected president from 2009-2012. Putin took office again as president this past March.

Demonstrators say they are concerned that keeping power in the hands of the same two men who have led Russia for the past four years will bring political and economic stagnation.
