Police arrest Occupy D.C. protesters

Police on Sunday arrest protesters who refused to take down an illegal wooden structure erected at their campsite in Washington, D.C.
Thirty-one demonstrators in total were arrested as U.S. Park Police moved to dismantle the two-storey frame, in a park where anti-Wall Street activists have been camped for weeks.
Several protesters climbed to the top of the wooden frame as police closed in, while a crowd of several hundred looked on.
A Park Police spokesman told reporters the wooden structure was constructed without a permit, and is unsafe.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) SGT. DAVID SCHLOSSER, U.S. PARK POLICE SPOKESMAN, SAYING:
"This structure was determined to be unsafe by the DC building inspector's office. The result of that, the U.S. Park Police concerned about life safety issues wanted to remove the folks
from that structure."
The Occupy Wall Street movement began several months ago in New York, and has spread to many cities in the U.S. and around the world.
