PM condolences to train crash victims

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper offered his condolences on Saturday to the families and friends of the victims of the deadly train derailment in Lac-Megantic, Quebec.

The fast-moving, driverless train was hauling tankers of crude oil, which exploded into a huge fireball when the train went of the tracks, destroying dozens of buildings.

A police spokesman said one person had died, and that toll would rise, but he declined to comment on media reports that anywhere between 40 and 80 people were missing.

Harper said an investigation into the incident would be conducted, but for now, he simply wanted to offer his sympathies to the victims.
