Bad plastic surgery: Gynecological cosmetic surgery has become big business in countries like the US, UK and Australia. The most popular procedures are labiaplasty, or surgery to change the size and shape of the labia, and vaginal rejuvenation, which is a fancy way of saying vaginal tightening. This is more commonly known as a "designer vagina."

There are legitimate cases in which women need genital surgery, but doctors report more and more women are seeking the procedures for purely cosmetic reasons. Experts say earlier and more frequent exposure to adult entertainment is to blame, and report that many women seeking gynecological surgery solely to improve their looks suffer from depression or low self-esteem — and should seek counseling, not surgery.

Doctors and activists are warning women of the risks of cosmetic genital surgery. These include bleeding and irritation, infection, and even permanent disfigurement.
