Pita bread
Description
PITA BREAD
its a simple recipe for perfect home made pita bread with or without oven.
yessssss....bake it or steak it ...in both ways you will get wonderful results.
ingredients
yeast 40g
luke warm water 1/4 cup (to dissolve yeast)
all-purpose flour 2 cups
olive oil 1 table spoon
salt 1 1/2 teaspoon
water to make the dough
Method:-
1. Dissolve the yeast in luke warm water and stir..keep aside for 2 minutes.
water shouldnt be too hot ..
2 .Add rest of the ingredients in and mix until it forms a shaggy mass. At this point almost all of the flour is incorporated ...then knea the dough...keep kneading for about ten minutes for a good gluten development...to make soft pita bread keep the dough soft moist and sticky but stretchy .
3..cover the dough and let it rise untill doubled in size .
4...make 4 dough balls from it.
5...again let it rest for about 15 minutes (its a very important point)
6...roll each ball out into a 6 1/2 inch circle with a rolling pin.
8...dont make pitas too thin and avoid tearing.if your pitas go into the oven with a tear ,it will not puff.
9....steak them at high temprature to get soft pita bread..
10 ...and if you decide to bake them try to take them out from the oven as soon as they are puffed and steak them to give them a typical pita look.
11....brush som oil if you want .
12...wrap them in a clean kitchen towel as soon as they come out of the oven.it will prevent pita breads to dried out too much .
13....now you need some of your favourite stuffings for these freshly home made pitas.
