Piper Brown - Saying Goodbye

the monster inside is calling my name
whispering to me that i am to blame
the day drawing near and almost upon
until the time where he will be gone
a week in his hometown erasing time
minutes ticking before he is in line
the U.S taking away my best known friend
though between us was frequently to mend
struggles, fights, and heartbreaks; we lived on
stayed strong was out long forged bond
the monster inside speaking the doubts
causing the slits, the tears, the bouts
His strength he lent to me to survive
the demon whispering, 'He has lied.'
Fear surrounds me that i may not say goodbye
my heart working hard in severing the tie
more important were those he cared about
my name on that list, i highly doubt
My loyalty to him starting to wane
thought never ceasing, waiting be my bane
waiting for the day he sees me as 'friend'
we will stand tall, forever until the end
the Navy stealing my friend away from me
safe and sound he better come home to be
