So good, so innocent, pure as gold,
Eyes dancing with exultant youth,
Secure from darkness - secure from truth.

When I see you, life barely beginning,
Will you always be playing, singing?
Kindness seeps from your loving heart,
Unaware you are so gorgeous and smart,

When I see you, so gentle and sweet,
I fear your goodness will one day retreat,
For how can you stay with such love in your soul,
In this world full of hate,
Hate I cannot control.
