Cambodias capital Phnom Penh is on the rise. Although Western tourism is down year over year, the citys economy is booming.\r
\r
Khmers continue to see improving living standards and life in the countrys capital is almost unrecognizable in just 10 short years. The ancient and modern sides of Phnom Penh continue to co-exist to produce a city unlike any other in Stouh-East Asia. \r

This film depicts both old and new Cambodia. I take a tour of the old food market, show you around a luxury hotel, visit some of the cities many nightlife venues and talk to the local people in various professions.\r

The first time I visited Phnom Penh was back in 2003. Since then Riverside have been transformed to a haven for connoisseurs of with modern Western restaurants. Traditional Cambodia is nowhere to be seen. As soon as you walk a block away from riverside however things change and youre thrown back a decade or ten. \r
\r
Bicycle taxis take locals to and from work whilst motorbikes which appears to date back to the Japanese invasion of French Indochine during World War II still maneuver past moving at snails pace.\r
\r
For how much longer one will be able to witness old Asia in Cambodia is anyones guess. No is as good a time to visit as ever though. The longer you wait the higher chances are that visiting Phnom Penh will be nothing more than a visit to a mini Bangkok. \r
