Philippines starts flood clean up
Description
Rubbish strewn across a muddy road - this is what the floodwaters have left behind in the streets of Marikina City in the Philippines.
Towns across the country are now beginning a massive clean up operation after nearly two weeks of monsoon rains and torrents that killed over 90 people.
As the weather cleared, residents began to return home to fix their damaged houses.
But disaster officials say almost 300,000 Filipinos remain in temporary shelters, and many are still scrambling to find provisions.
(SOUNDBITE) (Filipino) EVACUEE, FATHER OF TWO, PANTALEON BAYLOSIS:
"I hope the good weather continues, so we won't have to struggle. My hands got all scratched in the floods, so I wasn't able to go to work."
The weather bureau said the monsoon rains were the heaviest in three years.
Six provinces declared a state of emergency, and officials say it will take days to clear out the debris left by the floods.
