Phantom Movie First Look

Phantom is an upcoming Indian counter-terrorism drama film directed by Kabir Khan, and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. The film is about the post-26/11 attacks in Mumbai and global terrorism. The screenplay of the film has been written in co-ordination with best-selling author Hussain Zaidi, and is an adaptation of his recently released book titled Mumbai Avengers.[2][3]The film is scheduled for release on 28 August 2015.[4]

Kabir Khan and prominent crime author Hussain Zaidi had come together to collaborate on Kabir's then untitled film, based on the scenario after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, and on global terrorism.[5] The screenplay of the film is an adaptation and is co-written in conjunction with Hussain's then unreleased book. Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif were cast in leading roles, as secret agents. The film earlier had a working title as Daniyal Khan, before being titlted Phantom.[6] Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif have reportedly learnt Kurdish and Arabic for their roles.[7][8]

Filming began on October 2013 in Beirut, Lebanon. Around 10% of the film was shot in Lebanon in areas including downtown Beirut, the populous area of Khandak al-Ghameek, and the mountain areas of Kfardebian, with the latter two representing Syria.[9] The shoot of the film required a recreation of a Syrian refugee camp, which involved almost 400 locals to act as rebel militias. The sets of the film were so realistic that many people in the area believed actual militia groups had set up camp, and the Lebanese army began circling planes over the set. However the confusion was cleared after the first day. [10] Due to the country's recent political turmoil, security was provided to the crew.[11] A few days into shooting, an accident occurred on the set where two local artists were injured after being hit by a car.[12] Other international locations such as Turkey are included in the filming plan.[7] Shooting was also done in Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir state (India) in January 2014,[13][14] and in Malerkotla.[15] In August 2014 shooting resumed in London, United Kingdom and Vancouver, Canada.[16] In September 2014 the last schedule of the film was completed in Mumbai, with scenes being shot at the city's eastern ferry wharf, near the Gateway of India, and at Filmistan Studios in the suburb of Goregaon.[17][18] Both Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif have performed intense action sequences, and have not used stunt doubles for most of their scenes, having instead done the scenes themselves.
