in the drabbit cellar
where the wine bottles lee
skulks the fat broon moosie
wi a tear drap in its ee
fer as I wis supping dinner
last nicht at ten to eight
she pounced upon the table
an' landed on ma plate!

o tha' clever moosie
wis feedin' fae the stores
left fae fairly parties
an' fillin' up the floors
like bowls of pea green lentils
neeps an' ither crabbit jewels
o tha' wanton moosie
did ye think that I wis sore?

indeed I wis, ye ken noo
as I lifted ye in state
an' tenderly, an' gently took ye
off ma dinner plate
I didna wish tae hurt ye so
in style I found yer nest
an' tail up nose doon moosie
is back where she loes best!
