Paul Nelson - Dog Bite

Gave that fury beast a treat
He gave me a dog bite
It was my last piece of meat
But I’m gonna be alright
Went to pet my newfound friend
He bit me once again
I could tell he felt bad
He came and snuggled up to me
I whispered to him that I was okay
He looked at me kind of sad
I said to him “some day you’ll see”
Maybe tomorrow, not today
And then you’ll be free
Free to bite again or not
I’ll still give you what I got
He bit me almost every day
But I just looked away
Kept on whispering “it’s okay”
I could tell he felt bad
Puzzled too that I wasn’t mad
Then one day I saw him change
He looked at me kind of strange
He’s never bitten me since
